Kitchener Waterloo Sunrise Engagement Session - Ellen and Tim

Sunrise engagement sessions aren’t for everyone — but for Ellen and Tim, it was the perfect fit. We met up early for their sunrise engagement session in Kitchener-Waterloo, and they arrived exactly how you’d hope: relaxed, smiling, and carrying coffee (arguably the best engagement session accessory).

From the very beginning, these two were completely at ease. No stiff posing, no pressure — just walking, chatting, and enjoying the quiet of the morning while the rest of the city slept. This is why I love being a
documentary wedding photographer in Kitchener-Waterloo — when couples feel comfortable, the real moments naturally unfold.

And then… the sunrise happened.

I don’t say this lightly — it was the most unreal sunrise I’ve ever photographed. The sky lit up with soft layers of colour, giving us that dreamy morning light photographers are always chasing. Ellen and Tim barely noticed because they were too busy being themselves, which made everything feel effortless and real.

This Kitchener-Waterloo engagement session was slow, cozy, and full of genuine connection — coffee dates, early mornings, and a sky that absolutely showed off. If this is how Ellen and Tim start their day together, their wedding day is going to be something truly special.

If you’re dreaming of something relaxed and meaningful for your own photos, this is exactly what engagement sessions in Kitchener-Waterloo can look like when you keep things simple and true to you.
