Jen + Chris | A Heartfelt West Avenue Cider House Wedding in Southern Ontario
When Jen and Chris described themselves during our first conversation, one thing became immediately clear: they genuinely love doing life together. Whether they're planning their next trip, spending time outdoors, catching a game, discovering a new restaurant, or gathering with family and friends, they're the kind of couple who find joy in the everyday moments. As two project managers, they appreciate a good plan, but what makes their relationship special is how naturally they move through life as a team. That spirit was woven throughout every part of their wedding day at West Avenue Cider House, one of our favourite Southern Ontario wedding venues! Standing beneath the willow tree on their wedding day, surrounded by the people they love most, it was easy to see why getting married felt like the natural next step in their story. Getting Ready with Family and Friends The day began with both Jen and Chris getting ready alongside their closest friends and family. While many couples focus heavily on details and décor, Jen's priorities were refreshingly simple. She cared most about the people in the room. The laughter, the conversations, the hugs from family members, and the excitement building throughout the afternoon were what mattered most.
As a Southern Ontario wedding photographer, these are often the memories that become the most meaningful years later—not the perfectly arranged details, but the people who shared the experience with you! A Private First Look at West Avenue Cider House Before guests arrived, Jen and Chris shared a private first look near the cottage on the property. Away from the anticipation of the ceremony, they took a few quiet moments to see one another for the first time and exchange personal vows. One of our favourite things about wedding photography is witnessing these intimate moments unfold naturally.
Shortly afterward, Jen shared another emotional first look with her 97-year-old Oma. Watching generations come together on a wedding day is always special, and this moment carried so much love and history. It was a beautiful reminder that weddings are about far more than a single day—they're about family, legacy, and the people who helped shape us along the way. A Willow Tree Ceremony at West Avenue Cider House The ceremony took place beneath the iconic willow tree at West Avenue Cider House, one of the most beautiful outdoor ceremony locations in Southern Ontario. Before things officially began, the officiant invited every guest to participate in a group selfie. Once the photo was taken, everyone was asked to put their phones away and simply be present. As family members walked down the aisle together and guests gathered beneath the trees, the atmosphere felt warm, relaxed, and deeply personal. Jen and Chris exchanged vows surrounded by the people who know them best before celebrating their first moments as husband and wife with a joyful confetti-filled recessional. This was one of my favourite parts! Cocktail Hour, Meaningful Connections, and Golden Hour Portraits One of the things Jen and Chris told us before the wedding was that they wanted photographs showing the moments they wouldn't get to see themselves. The conversations during cocktail hour. The laughter between friends. The reactions during speeches. The hugs, happy tears, and small interactions happening all around them. These unscripted moments are often what make a wedding gallery feel complete, and throughout the evening there was no shortage of them. As the sun began to set over the property, we stole Jen and Chris away for a few quiet minutes of portraits. The soft evening light across the grounds at West Avenue Cider House created the perfect backdrop for some of our favourite images of the day. A Sparkler-Lit First Dance As evening settled in, guests gathered with sparklers to welcome Jen and Chris onto the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. It was the perfect ending to a wedding day that felt completely authentic to who they are.
